Blooncin is a pretty interesting chimps strat to use Posted: 03 Jan 2020 06:19 AM PST | It wasn't easy figuring out the best way to maximise this tower's potential and even so I still don't know if what I'm doing is the most efficient. I'll start off by showing off what this tower is good and bad at. It excels at grouped BFBs and below, doing decently good at ZOMGs and needing support for the BAD (though pretty good for MOAB class bloons, it doesn't solo a BAD as well) and DDTs (blooncin does damage over time, so slowing helps). Interestingly enough, despite being a tower designed for MOAB popping power, the extra walls of fire from each shot are pretty good for ceram cleanup, even without support towers. Given how it does well in almost all aspects, it can be utilised in many different ways to be insanely good. Another thing to keep in mind when using this strat is that you only need to hit each MOAB class bloon once for it to inflict burn damage over time. This prevents it from being completely terrible against multiple path maps, though it does need some extra support. Another thing about this is that it needs no overclock to be good. This fact alone helps quite a bit when figuring out the best way to micro this. In terms of supporting towers, what you need are towers against DDTs like slowing towers, which further improve it against ZOMG (depending on which way you decide to micro it), or you could do purely supporting damage like spike storm, which helps a bit with the BAD, or archmage, which also helps a bit with stray cerams. Alternatively, towers that just do a bit of extra ceram defense like one or two recursives or maybe a druid army. Considering all weaknesses, the best tower to pair with it would be permaspike which covers DDTs, the BAD and long ceram streams. As for heroes, a multitude of heroes pair well with this. Pat's ability appears to buff both the burn damage and walls of fire damage giving it insane dps against both MOABs and cerams. The stun also helps quite a bit against DDTs and MOABs. Jones level 20 can double its damage and the stun can also help quite a lot. Jones would be best paired with biggest one, though it doesn't do as well when saving up for blooncin and also not as well against DDTs and the BAD. Ezili would also be amazing against non-DDT rounds given how the MOAB hex skipping is paired very well with blooncin's slight weakness against cerams and insanely high pierce and MOAB damage (though Ezili's hex is currently bugged to not skip). Quincy and other dps heroes also kind of work just as extra dps to help out blooncin. Obyn here would help with cerams, though just mostly support for magic towers or for early game. There are quite a few ways to do this strat, with so many different towers to pair blooncin with and two ways to afford it. You can either rush blooncin with a cheap early game and affording it pre r80, like arcane spike + icicles or bloonjitsu + recursives, or you can get it post r80 with solid early game with a slightly tougher 80s, though downdraft generally solves this problem. There are also three different ways of microing this, with differing levels of skill required and different effectiveness. You can: - Do it the easy way and leave it constantly targetting MOAB class bloons and use good cleanup towers. Most of the screenshots provided show a strategy not using some OP meta strat like permaspike or savatar, though you can use it if you want. Solver isn't recommended considering its price for just handling cerams alone, so get something for both cleanup and DDTs.
- Do it the less easy way and leave it at a bend or intersection. The stacked walls of fire handles the cerams while the main attacks burns through MOAB layers. On the cornfield run, the blooncin on the first bend handles BFBs pretty well with that one spot, though this method doesn't do as well against DDTs depending on where the bend is (like on cornfield). It doesn't do as well against the ZOMG, so occasionally retargetting 1 shot to the ZOMGs for the extra burn damage helps, or you can use some slowing towers like Pat's stun, Jone's stun or impale to further help.
- Depending on the map, keeping a good stack of walls of fire and sometimes retargetting to MOABs can work pretty well. I used this on r96 and 98 on cargo, to prevent too many MOABs from popping at once and overwhelming the spectre. You can also do something similar but reversed, so you constantly hit MOABs until there appears to be too many cerams, so you retarget it to hit the range of the ice stalled cerams (shown on the high finance winning run)
This mostly summarises my findings of how to maximise blooncin's potential as a good chimps strat. It's probably not as black border friendly if you're not using permaspike or savatar but is still pretty fun to play around with. I never thought this tower would have so many unexplored aspects to it that make it interesting to figure out and use. It's just a weird strat that works well with so many other towers and might require more skill to make it insanely good. The methods of targetting aren't exactly perfect yet, so it can be even better that I describe here. Pat's pond should also be doable with druid army and blooncin, though I'm currently working on it to show that it also works well on multiple path maps. https://preview.redd.it/9rmt6iyuck841.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=357c71e4833d11804ea6cafe2ef097056d5ddf2f submitted by /u/Player8443 [link] [comments] | |
