Posted: 27 Jul 2021 04:29 AM PDT I believe Paragons are going to become an amazing addition to BTD6. I also think NK did a great job with their design but I do think they missed the mark with Paragons place in the game. This is not going to be a rant but rather my view on Paragons and some of the issues I've with them. Ofcourse, we don't know what NK is going to be planning in the future and it might invalidate everything I'm about to say. They are the professionals after all. The main problems I have with Paragons is that they are boring and too powerful for the game. When you get are able to afford a Paragon, you can basically afford anything else. NK tried to battle this with the "Degree" system. Doesn't matter how much cash you have, you need experience. Good idea on paper, boring idea in practise. You are basically forced to use one type of tower for the entire game. BTD6 shines in the use of many wacky towers and the degree system completely contradicts the "fun" of the game. Every Paragon is going to be powerful but where does it stop? I much prefer a weaker Paragon I can use in other gamemodes; one I can buff and be useful in Freeplay/Boss Bloons rounds than a Paragon thats only good in those rounds and not anywhere else. Insane Power/Repetitive gameplay does not equal fun. As it stands now, Paragons are simply damage-powerhouses. I believe when we get 2-5 more Paragons people will already feel the drought of this. Since they are sooo strong, they will all feel the same. They can pop bloons well and they look cool but what do they really do different from one another? I also believe that if they add more Paragons, the other Paragons will be invalidated. You already farm way more cash than you need for the Dart Paragon. When for example the Dartling Gunner Paragon is going to be added, it's going to be much much stronger than the Dart Paragon. Why use all of your time and energy on something inferior that's obviously worse? Especially if you have to work for it for the entire game? Why even go for other towers that were also designed for Freeplay.. I suck at translating my thoughts on paper and it's not exactly how I wanted to write it but I do believe Paragons are flawed and there are things that can definitly improve. Because... The moment I put it down with only an lvl of 20, I felt bored instead of hyped. They are so strong, they invalidate literally anything else (Ray of Doom for example). They even invalidate themselves. And that's not fun. It's also more fun buffing them up, picking them up with Heli, alchemizing, etc. Ofcourse, too poweful how they are now but what if they were actually balanced in terms of the rest of the game and not godlike how they are now?
