    Analyzing the Intersection of 2TC and 3TC ABR

    Introduction

    It has often been said regarding 3TC ABR that all you need to do is "take a 2TC and add Master Bomber". It's time to finally investigate how valid this claim is, as well as provide some food for thought. This post will compare the success rate of taking a 2TC and adding Master Bomber in 3TC ABR against that of adding other popular towers in 3TC ABR, as well as using combos from the "Close/Impossible Combos" document for 2TC.

    Important notes:

    1. This post was made after the completion of the 31st 2TC (Wizard Lord Phoenix + Spectre) and after the completion of the 170th 3TC ABR (Master Bomber + WLP + Ground Zero)
    2. Some very common tower abbreviations: WLP = Wizard Lord Phoenix, MB = Master Bomber, Tsar = Tsar Bomba,GZ = Ground Zero, PoD = Prince of Darkness, Prime = Apache Prime, GMN = Grandmaster Ninja, CBM = Crossbow Master

    2TCs in 3TC ABR

    Of the current 31 2TCs, 23 have been entirely included in at least one 3TC ABR. The following combos are included in this metric:

    1. Archmage + Prime
    2. WLP + Permaspike
    3. WLP + Prime
    4. Obyn + Dark Champion
    5. Pre-Emptive Strike + Prime
    6. Obyn + Anti-Bloon
    7. WLP + Tsar
    8. PoD + Prime
    9. GMN + Permabrew
    10. Archmage + Blooncineration
    11. Permabrew + Prime
    12. Archmage + Churchill
    13. Archmage + Tsar
    14. WLP + Sky Shredder
    15. Obyn + Prime
    16. GMN + WLP
    17. CBM + WLP
    18. WLP + GZ
    19. WLP + Churchill
    20. PoD + Dark Champion
    21. WLP + Technological Terror
    22. Carrier Flagship + Blooncineration
    23. Archmage + GZ

    Thus, by definition, the following 2TCs have not made an appearance in 3TC ABR yet; this metric is important because it distinguishes the relevant 2TCs from the irrelevant ones:

    4. Carrier Flagship + Homeland Defense
    5. Quincy + Dark Champion

    Master Bomber has been used with 18 2TCs:

    2TCs + Other Popular Towers

    Three other towers which are seen extremely frequently in 3TC ABR are Ezili, WLP, and Permabrew. Since the latter two have been used in 2TCs themselves, those 2TCs will be counted when considering how often the towers are used with 2TCs.

    Ezili has appeared with 12 2TCs:

    1. Archmage + Prime
    2. WLP + Permaspike
    3. WLP + Prime
    4. Pre-Emptive Strike + Prime
    5. PoD + Prime
    6. Permabrew + Prime
    7. Archmage + Tsar
    8. WLP + Shredder
    9. CBM + WLP
    10. WLP + GZ
    11. Carrier Flagship + Blooncineration
    12. Archmage + GZ

    WLP and Permabrew have each appeared in conjunction with 1 2TC besides as a part of the 2TCs that include them and make an appearance in 3TC ABR on their own; this combo is GMN + Permabrew + WLP.

    Close Combos + MB/Sticky Bomb

    MB and Sticky Bomb have been used with combos on the doc that do not have 2TCs of their own:

    1. Obyn + WLP
    2. WLP + Dark Champion
    3. MB + Prime
    4. MB + Dark Champion
    5. Ezili + Prime
    6. Glaive Lord + Tsar Bomba
    7. Glaive Lord + MB
    8. Glaive Lord + Prime
    9. WLP + Special Poperations
    10. Archmage + Bloon Solver
    11. PoD + WLP

    Close Combos + Other Popular Towers

    Once again, this will be compared with how Ezili, WLP, and Permabrew perform on the same metric.

    Ezili has been used with 13 document combos:

    1. MB + Prime
    2. Energizer + WLP
    3. Archmage + Sky Shredder
    4. Archmage + Special Poperations
    5. Carrier Flagship + Tsar
    6. Pre-Emptive Strike + Dark Champion
    7. Pre-Emptive Strike + Archmage
    8. Archmage + Comanche Commander
    9. Grand Saboteur + Apache Prime
    10. Overclock + Dark Champion
    11. Overclock + Prime
    12. CBM + Tsar
    13. CBM + Dark Champion

    WLP has been used with 4 document combos, in addition to the 5 which are in the document and use WLP:

    1. MB + Prime
    2. Grand Saboteur + Prime
    3. Ezili + Prime
    4. CBM + Dark Champion

    Permabrew has been used with 3 document combos:

    1. Grand Saboteur + Prime
    2. Ezili + Prime
    3. CBM + Dark Champion

    Frequency of Popular Pairs

    Several 2TCs and other popular pairs of towers have been repeatedly used throughout 3TC ABR; the 5 most frequent are listed below.

    1. GMN + Permanent Brew (17)
    2. MB + WLP (15)
    3. CBM + WLP (14)
    4. WLP + Prime (14)
    5. Ezili + Archmage (13)

    Conclusion

    Is it fair to say that 3TC ABR is just Master Bomber with a 2TC? It certainly has been paired with the largest number of completed 2TCs of any tower in 3TC ABR, more even than Ezili, WLP, and Permabrew; however, when it comes to pairing with 2TCs that fail in that regard, Ezili shines through as the go-to tower for that goal. With 170 3TC ABR combos, however, it's fair to say that the category is much more diverse than slapping a bunch of otherwise-irrelevant BAD damage on a 2TC; all of the combos discussed here, throughout the entire post, only make up a total of 129 of the 170 combos. This sounds like a lot, but remember there have been slews of downgrades and OP combos like MB + WLP which have nothing to do with 2TC at all. Based on this data, the conclusion is that 3TC ABR is much more diverse than Master Bomber and a 2TC.

    Closing Remarks

    Exploring the past of 3TC ABR has been a lot of fun for me, not the least because of my own contributions. When I first heard about it, I chalked it up to be nothing more than an excuse to show off GMN + Permabrew stuff; I didn't think it would get past those first ten combos. Obviously, I was wrong, and we've had a whole award ceremony to celebrate how many there are (and the number of combos has almost doubled since that ceremony's most recent). I think there's still more to be explored here, and I hope people will keep searching.
