    Hey guys!

    Exactly 1 year ago the v14.0 update dropped for BTD6. Along with it q lot of balance changes for the temple and a few other towers. But most importantly, a powerful new hero that would strike down bloons with a vengeance. The high priestess: Adora.

    In this post I'd like to look at how she was received when she was first released, the buffs and nerfs she got over the past year and her current place in the meta. Along with this I'll be doing a 2mpc challenge with her on logs just to get a better feel for her and share some pf her strengths and weaknesses.

    Just a bit of a disclaimer before we start. I have played this game from release day but am in no means an expert. If you think I got anything wrong, be sure to tell me.

    ~•Release•~

    Adora was released on december 12th. She was received as a very powerful, maybe even OP, hero. She could basically solo round 98 at level 20 on the right map and could do insane damage with her ball of light ability. This however quickly turned out to be a strong case of new-toy-syndrome. For the people that don't know, new-toy-syndrome is caused by the effect bias in our brains. Whenever we encounter something new we are conditioned to overestimate its consequences. In this case that means everyone immediately jumping to the conclusion Adora is OP even if she is only average at best.

    ~•Version History•~

    At first people were pretty scared Adora would be nerfed just because of how she was received but thankfully she has only been buffed over the past year. Or, actually, she hasn't really been buffed over the last year, only the last two months. Adora was buffed twice, once in the 21.0 update making her level up 'slightly' faster. I have to say this wasn't really that noticeable.

    The second time was in the 22.0 update making her blood sacrifice buff her range and attack speed by 10% along with all sun avatars and temples in her range. This is personally the buff I like most because it increases her viability a bit seeing sun avatars are used quite often and cause it fits her lore very well.

    ~•Current place in the meta•~

    I don't think the buffs she has received have done much for her in terms of becoming top tier. According to this tierlist: https://www.reddit.com/r/btd6/comments/jp0ezq/comprehensive_tier_list_for_chimps_by_path/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf that combined a lot of people their opinions Adora was B- in version 21.0. This was before her blood sacrifice got buffed. I personally think this buff was enough to elevate her above churchill as she now does more than just do damage. This means she'd become B tier.

    ~•Misconceptions•~

    Lastly before I share the challenge i did I want to talk about a few misconceptions about her. You might already be aware of this but I've heard people get it wrong so I might aswel put it in here.

    • Ball of Light does not change between level 10 and level 20. Wrong, at level 15 it gains + 1 damage. This means it gets 50% more damage going from 2 to 3 damage.

    • Long arm of light does not increase single target dps. Wrong, at level 16 the ability goes wrong doubling range and pierce to also doubling damage. Note that this only doubles the main attack's damage and not any other buff it is affected by.

    ~•Strengths and weaknesses•~

    Overall Adora is kinda a jack of all traits hero, her bloon damage is pretty decent and her moab damage late game is also pretty decent if you sacrificed some stuff. She does still have a few weaknesses that sets her aside from the other heroes.

    • She needs sacrifices to be good late game. While her sacrifice ability is very useful in chimps to clean up your early game towers and get Adora exp. It's also part of why Adora isn't top tier. You need to put money into her to make her good. If you want to have her at level 20 by round 98 you need approximately 40k of sacrifices. This is quite a lot.

    • She falls off midgame. Early game she is pretty good, her pretty decent range, seeking attacks and ability to double her pierce make her pretty useful in the first 39 rounds. Round 40 is her main downfall tho. At this point she's most likely be level 7 or 8 meaning she shoots 3 or 4 bolts. Without monkey knowledge this means she will need a long time to take down a moab. Her situation doesn't improve a whole lot for the next 20 or 30 rounds. After this you start to reach late game and will usually be able to put some money aside for her sacrifices.

    • Adora is quite reliant on monkey villages and other buffs. If you want Adora to be your main source of damage you'll need quite a few support towers. The main one is a MIB seeing Adora has no camo detection and can't pop purples without her level 3 ability.

    Nonetheless she also has some things she excels at which she might not always get credit for.

    • She is the only way (baring arctic chinook) to get rid of towers in chimps.

    • Her seeking bolts and ability to see through obstacles trivializes early games on some of the harder maps.

    • When reaching levels 20 she can do a lot of damage.

    • Due to having a lot of projectiles she has pretty great alchemist synergy.

    ~•2MPC•~

    I also did a 2mpc on logs, which was honestly pretty easy. I noticed the absence of other heroes like Pat or Jones but it was still pretty easy to do. Even without using an alchemist for 99% of the run. I did notice the weaknesses a bit and a bit more pierce would have been nice but overall she didn't fo bad at all. Wanna see how I did?     So yea, that's it. Do I think Adora is underrated? Maybe but hopefully this post will give her some of the credit she deserves. Happy birthday Adora!
